Click-To-Dial

Click-to-dial is a web-to-phone service that eliminates the need for customers to type in phone numbers. Its special link on web pages automatically dials a specified phone number and requests a call back. Some VoIP services even have a click-to-dial widget built in.

Click-to-dial works in two ways: you can place a direct click to talk on behalf of a queue. In the former, you can type the number directly into the Name or Number box, while the latter allows you to type the name of the queue. The latter is useful when you do not have a clickable number on a webpage. Similarly, you can highlight a contact’s name in an email and have them instantly placed in your call queue.

A click-to-dial button can also be integrated into an email signature. The link can include a phone number in its text, as long as it’s wrapped with tel-scheme, which is the standard international dialing format. Mobile browsers are also capable of detecting phone numbers, so it’s important to ensure that the phone number you link to is correctly tagged.

Using Click-To-Dial and Highlight-To-Call

Click-to-dial is available in both web browsers and Outlook. The click-to-dial feature can be enabled or disabled on your phone. To enable this feature, you need to have an active Zoom Phone license, a Zoom mobile application with an Android 5.6.6 or higher version, and a link tagged with tel. To enable click-to-dial on your Zoom phone, follow the steps below.

The Cisco Unified Phone Application Suite supports Smart Tags. In this case, the Smart Tag will activate the speaker when the remote party answers the call. Before you can use the click-to-dial feature, you must make sure your Cisco Unified Communications Manager service is running.

Another benefit of click to talk technology is that it allows consumers to browse a website while being connected to a live agent. Once a consumer clicks to call, the call is routed to the correct department or agent. This streamlines the process and ensures that all the necessary information is available at the right time. Click to talk technology is also more secure than phone numbers and text messaging, which make it easier to share personal details.
