We live in a world full of noise. There are noises designed to sell, beg, seduce, and deceive. In the midst of this cacophony of sound, it’s easy to miss the voice that matters most.

If ever there was a time to develop our sensitivity to hear that voice, it is now! Because there is a lot of noise, so much that it causes confusion, in such a way that our operating by the Word of God and under the direction of the Holy Spirit means the difference between failure and success, and life and death.

Elijah had heard Jezebel’s threats and the voice of his own fear, so he fled to a cave to hide. In the cave he faced the overwhelming noise of the wind, an earthquake and a fire (1 Kings 19: 11-12). Then the cave fell silent and the voice of the Lord, the only sound that mattered, broke through as “like a soft and still voice.”

If we are going to hear God speaking to our hearts through His word, we must stay away from the noise of the crowd. Only when we learn to be quiet can we truly understand what it really means to commune with the God who cares for us. When we make an effort to hear God’s voice, He speaks loud and clear. The volume is noticeable when we lower the volume of the world!

This is the time we have to grow as children of God and develop in the areas that He wants us to develop. Through God’s mercy, we have been given the opportunity to make amends and start over in a better way every time we make mistakes. This is to help us avoid so many pitfalls that exist for God’s blessings to come our way. Because today many voices resound; the newspapers, television, and even the pulpit are full of different voices, but the Lord asks, “For whom are they speaking?”

Today it is very common to hear people talk about what the Lord told them to do or not do. They attribute many of their actions to him, but they do not speak as God commanded them. The Lord wants you and I to hear, recognize, and obey His voice when it speaks to us directly, not through a third party. Hearing God’s voice requires you to turn down the volume of the voices of the world around you and silently read your Bible, God’s written word. When you read the Bible, God gives you understanding through His Spirit. Sometimes He speaks to us verbally, but this does not happen all the time, so we are not dependent on hearing God verbally all the time and for all matters. When God created you, He gave you a brain and a mind. He wants you to use them and not depend on hearing some kind of verbal direction for every issue in your life.

As Christians, we must develop a lifestyle that gives the certainty that the direction we feel and the voice we hear is that of God, because we can be guided by our own spirit, the ministering spirits, the devil or our mind could be speaking to us. . When the Holy Spirit is speaking or leading, we have a grip on our spirit, a kind of inspiration that is difficult to put into words. To know the voice of God, it is first necessary to know God. And that kind of relationship develops over a period of time. Knowing God is knowing how he behaves or acts. So when you hear a voice telling you to do something, as long as what you say does not contradict or violate any known biblical law, then you have the option of following the voice or not following it. God does not contradict himself!
