Many young families have moved to the area over the years because there are simply so many things to do in Sarasota, Florida. Sarasota offers everything from shopping to fantastic restaurants, exceptional golf, and of course, the most beautiful beaches in the country.

Sarasota, although a mid-sized city, is considered the cultural heart of West Florida. It is a “Circus Town” as it was once the winter quarters of the “Greatest Show on Earth”. Even today, John Ringling’s impact can be seen and felt throughout the city. In fact, Sarasota is even home to the Ringling School of Art & Design. However, the city also has quite a metropolitan feel to it. In downtown Sarasota, you can check out Friday night gallery walks, listen to music once a month at “Downtown After Five,” or spend a Saturday morning at the farmers market.

However, it is the majestic scenery that really makes Sarasota so alluring. The county has thirty-five miles of beaches and 6 barrier islands. And these are not your typical beaches. The pure white sand of Siesta Key or Lido Key will take your breath away. On Siesta Key, you can snorkel for sea sponges at Crescent Beach, or travel a little further south and wade through gentle surf to collect shark teeth at Venice Beach.

Sarasota is also great for boaters. The 56-mile long Sarasota Bay will never leave you bored. Sarasota Bay is perfect for fishing, water skiing or just relaxing on a boat in Sarasota’s beautiful sunny weather.

As you can see, there are numerous things to do in Sarasota, Florida. Whether you’re looking for a place to sit back and relax or a place to go out and enjoy a little excitement, Sarasota Florida really has you covered.
