Can you imagine if all the cameras, even the ones on your phone, only showed you the center of your images? What if a 5X7 only showed you the central 2X3? I suspect that you would not be satisfied with your photo. It would also be safe to say that you would never really know what is happening in the image, since you are only seeing a small part of it.

The downside to greyhounds is the same. You need to see the whole picture! But how can you do this? I have some suggestions.

Understand that your goal is to make money, not to choose a winner. This concept takes a long time for most greyhound players to understand. If you can adapt it quickly, your game will improve quickly.

Don’t simply look at the last lines of a greyhound. You should see them and try to understand them. Ask yourself questions. Why did this greyhound fade from first to worst? Why did this greyhound break eighth place? Why did this greyhound fail? If you can answer questions about past greyhound lines, you will be in a better position to use them to predict today’s race.

See the full card. Don’t make the mistake of having tunnel vision and just watching each race as it comes. You should look at the entire race schedule and spend time on each race. By doing this, you can divide the races into categories from most playable to least playable. If the first 5 races are really tough and don’t offer you much of a chance to win, you should wait until later in the program to place your big bets. You can still place smaller bets on these tough races, but you always want to spend most of your money on races that you think have the best chance of winning.

Take the time to look at more of the last 6 lines. The standard program offers you 6 lines of past races. Twenty years ago you really didn’t have much of a choice for anything else. But today everything is unique and easily accessible. There is software that will show you the last 40 lines of the race! There is also a website that will show you all the past lines of a greyhound and videos of their runs!

A player with tunnel vision is a losing player. To have the best chance of success, you want to see the big picture!
