Have you ever wondered if your gifts will SURPRISE your family and friends, or will be given again, or worse, will end up forgotten in a corner of the closet only to be found years later? Today you will learn what is on people’s wish lists for Christmas 2007.

Not too long ago, I took a survey and asked thousands of people to tell me what their biggest wish was for Christmas 2007, and I was amazed at the results.

Of course, many want better health, more fulfilling careers, more time with family, or mending broken relationships. And while you can’t grant their wish, you can help point them in the right direction by giving them books, tapes, or DVDs to help them solve their problem. You can also brainstorm ways to fulfill their wishes, or give them the gift of your time.

These are just some of these more abstract wishes:

“I would love to find a way to spend time with my husband and family.”

“I would like to recover my deteriorating health this year, but it’s unrealistic to even expect that. There are some things money can’t buy.”

“Peace and a greener pollution-free global community.”

“The important thing that I would most like for Christmas is to spend time with my loved ones (especially my wife).”

“To reconcile with our daughter.”

“My biggest wish for this Christmas is for my wife to spend Christmas with her mother.”

“My wife has germ cell cancer and has been feeling very sick. All I want is for her to feel well enough to enjoy Christmas and help decorate as she loves those parties.”

“This year, by Christmas, I hope my mother has a matched donor. She needs a kidney transplant and has been on the donor list for over two years with no luck.”

“I want an engagement ring and a marriage proposal from my boyfriend.”

Other’s Christmas wish list for 2007 includes things you can buy to give as gifts, and here’s just a small sample of them:

  • Money: Many people want money for Christmas. While it is nice to receive a gift, many have needs that money could meet.
  • Gift cards: Several mentioned that they wanted to make home decorations but felt guilty spending money on such a project, but if they received a gift card from Lowe’s or Home Depot, they would love it.
  • Laptops: if a member of your family doesn’t have one, what a great gift to give! Everyone could use and enjoy a laptop!
  • Toys: And well, toys can mean different things to different people. For kids, Webkinz is all the rage, but for teens, an iPod, MP3, Nintendo DS, LCD TV, WII, Xbox 360 and more.

“I want an Apple iPod touch. The reason is quite simple: use the beautiful 3.5-inch widescreen touchscreen with wireless access to control the lights and heating system in my home.”

“I want an MP3 player! I have a long commute to work every day and I’d like to be able to download free audiobooks that I can listen to in the car while driving. I do this at home, but downloads are only portable if you have an MP3 player .This would keep me entertained and happy while traveling.”

  • Plane tickets: these are great for those who have family abroad, or even on the other side of the country.

“What I would really like for Christmas this year is a family trip so we can see our daughter and son-in-law this year. They live in Kuwait, which is too far away for me.”

“I want 4 plane tickets; two to TX and two to NY. I recently had friends move to those two places and I won’t be able to see them. I quit my job to take care of my grandma so I won’t be able to earn the money to buy tickets myself. Christmas is meant to be with those you care about, and I’d love to come visit them during the holiday season.”

As you can see, some of the best gifts this holiday season aren’t necessarily the ones you’d think of. Are you listening to your family and friends? Your Christmas gifts this year will be more meaningful if you just take a little time to think about the recipients. Make it the best Christmas ever!
