Marmoleum is made from natural ingredients, making it an eco-friendly flooring option. Marmoleum includes natural materials such as linseed oil, natural flax, rosins, and wood flour. Even the support is respectful with the environment, made up of jute in the case of the laminated material and cork in the case of the Click Floor.

Marble Sheet Material:
Available in 6 feet 7 inches in width, Marmoleum laminate material can be ordered in lengths as low as 1 foot and as long as 105 feet. Marmoleum sheet material requires a glue down installation. Marmoleum laminate material should only be installed by professionals.
Marble tile:
Marmoleum Tile comes in two sizes: 13″ X 13″ and 20″ X 20″
Note: These are not Marmoleum Click floors. Marmoleum tile requires a glue-down installation and should be left to professionals. Sticky tiles have a polyester backing.
Click floor Marmoleum:
Marmoleum Click is available in two sizes, 12″ x 12″ Click Tile and 12″ x 36″ Panel. Marmoleum click floors include a back attached cork underlayment. Marmoleum click panel is generally considerably less expensive than click tile and a bit easier to install. As a licensed flooring contractor, I can tell you that from my own experience, click tiles are a bit more difficult to install. The tiles require all four corners to line up exactly, unless you are staggering the tiles. Panels, or planks as they are commonly known, require offset staggering and are therefore not all that difficult to install. You don’t need to be so exact with the installation.
Many times I am asked about the stripping and polishing that Marmoleum needs. So let’s clear the air a bit.
Marmoleum used to require stripping and refinishing your floor. The keywords here are “use for”. No longer required in residential use. A few years ago, Marmoleum was restyled with a permanent finishing application, “Top Coat”. While you can remove the finish, you most likely don’t have to. You can apply new coats of floor finish/polish just on top of the top coat. You can even add more coats just to bring out a higher level of shine. Always follow the instructions on the bottles.
Naturally, I’m only talking about a residential installation and not a commercial application.
More questions arise about sealing the seams.
Marmoleum does not have a joint sealer like most vinyl floors. Marmoleum uses a heat weld in commercial applications, but does not require heat welding in a residential installation. Since marmoleum is a natural product and does not contain a felt backing like vinyl flooring, it is not as easily damaged at seams from normal household use. Therefore, a seam sealer is not required.
For those who feel they need to seal the seams, I suggest applying the floor finish/polish to the entire floor to help ease your concerns. Always follow the instructions on the bottle of Marmoleum.
It might be a better idea to hire a professional installation contractor. The problem is most contractors are unregulated, sure they have a contractors association or board they have to go to. That doesn’t qualify them as professional, honest, or even trustworthy. It is usually a way that the government acquires fees for licensing.
