o CEOs and CEOs of Dubai companies can get up to 100,000 – 150,000 dhs per month. For smaller companies something closer to 50,000 dhs/month.

A common middle-class salary would be 5,000-10,000 dhs/month. Citizens of the West and the United Arab Emirates earn the highest salaries. A bonus is paid at the end of employment, but it depends on several factors. There is no income tax in Dubai although the possibility is occasionally discussed.

Non-payment of wages and salaries:

Non-payment of wages is an issue that is rarely resolved in favor of the worker. Management at Dubai jobs is well aware of the bad reputation of some companies and sectors for not paying their workers. The employee can file a complaint with the UAE Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. There is a procedure to follow and complaints are investigated and companies are penalized by including them on blacklists for hiring workers. Many non-payment complaints are resolved in favor of the worker, but sometimes a case can drag on for months.

Working hours and holidays:

Most of the jobs in the United Arab Emirates are 5 days, 5 and a half or 6 days a week. The employee must make sure before signing. The work week changed from Saturday to Wednesday and Sunday to Thursday for the public sector. The private sector work week varies, but mostly follows the government sector, and Friday is a common holiday for all sectors. Holidays come in two varieties: fixed (eg Eid, Jan 01, etc.) and actual days (unannounced, depends on moon views. Like Moharram).

For office work in Dubai, men are required to wear a tie, but a jacket is not that common. Women can wear almost the same in a comparable job in a western country. Natural fibers are more suitable for the hot climate of Dubai.

Verbal communication from employees in Dubai:

Arabic is the official language of the United Arab Emirates, but English is the common denominator among the different nationalities working in Dubai, at least in the private sector. It is helpful if the employee can speak Arabic, but it is not essential for most jobs.
