Intercourse begins with a man’s arousal because it depends on the man having an erection. Intercourse comes to an end with male orgasm and ejaculation because the man loses his erection. That’s why male performance – the ability to get aroused and orgasm – is critical to heterosexual activity. Female performance has come to refer to the ability of women to provide male arousal.
Intercourse is a territorial act of dominance of the man over the woman. This is very clear in nature. In line with other female mammals, a woman’s response ranges from indifference (a man only needs a woman to cooperate for as long as he needs to ejaculate) to fierce objection (in the case of rape). Of the two scenarios, the one with the most adrenaline for a man is the rape scenario. This is the scenario in which a woman is likely to respond with both body movements and vocal objections. This scenario contrasts with consensual intercourse, where a woman has little response because there is very little physical sensation and zero erotic arousal.
Regardless of the circumstances, men tend to view sex as a male conquest. Intercourse is essentially an act of female subjugation. Hence why sex is often degrading to women. The implication is that women are simply helpless victims. Men sometimes approach sex with a selfish attitude, as if each woman is simply a territorial conquest for them before moving on to the next. Men tend to tolerate male infidelity, but not a cheating woman. They assume that a woman does not have a sexual agenda of her own. Some women enjoy the ego of a man who wants them even as a one-time occasion.
Some men want a woman to dress up and play a specific social role. Popular costumes include maids, nurses, and air hostesses. These jobs are those in which women have a lower social status, which means that they may be vulnerable to (or benefit from) men’s advances on a higher social scale. These women may be more open to sexual advances due to the social advantage of obtaining a wealthy lover and a social benefactor. Women are not turned on by the idea of one man playing different social roles. Men enjoy scenarios where they are in control and can impress a woman.
If he expected a woman to be excited, he would wait forever. Many men follow their instincts and take the initiative when making sexual advances. Regardless of his partner’s response, a man assumes that she must be willing. Sadly, this is an almost inevitable part of being a man. Rape is defined by a woman’s strong physical, vocal and violent objections.
In a society where men and women form families together, we present sexual intercourse as an act of making love. But originally, mating is clearly an act of aggression on the part of the male. No woman volunteers for the risks of pregnancy and childbirth without a fight. In our society, men are shamed for being dominant (violent and bullying) and women are shamed for being submissive (shy and modest). Yet these natures lie at the very heart of heterosexuality and human reproduction. By depositing his sperm in her vagina, a man potentially forces a woman to carry and give birth to her offspring.
For men, intercourse is primarily an erotic act, but not necessarily an act of love. Rape can clearly be seen as an act of domination because women are sometimes seriously injured (rendered infertile) or even killed. Rape is always an act of rape on the part of a man because he has taken something that the victim did not want to give. Most women want to get to know a man well before offering him sex. Women are attracted to men who exude emotional warmth.
Men are often attracted to women who are not sexually active. This is due to the territorial instincts of men. Men prefer virgin territory. They also do not like to be compared to other lovers. Ironically, men often marry women who are hard to come by. Once married, men can be assured of a wife’s loyalty, which is paramount to a man’s pride (again, a territorial instinct).
Men have extramarital affairs, maintain a mistress, or visit prostitutes. Women who are wives and mothers compete directly with these sexual women who divert their men’s earnings from the family. Men don’t like promiscuous women because a man hopes that his lovemaking skills will set him apart from other men. A man feels appreciated when he is the only lover a woman has, rather than one of the many whom he is serving.
You’d think straight men have more reasons than gay men to protect and love women. Interestingly, only straight men attack women. Men are accused of abusing women, assaulting them, raping them and even murdering them. But in fantasy land, women orgasm all the time thanks to the stimulation that men are motivated to provide. If women were as willing as fantasy implies, men would have no reason to harm a source of sexual pleasure. Men abuse prostitutes because of their resentment towards women who refuse to have sex. Some men are much more prone to violence than others. Most men simply find another partner or a sexual outlet.
In species where there is a fight before the female undergoes intercourse, the male must be physically dominant and able to control the female.
