Well, okay … sometimes it’s hard to change your eating habits. What made sense to me was that carnivorous animals have very short intestines. This is because large piles of meat and potatoes or just meat take an incredibly long time to digest. Humans have an incredibly long intestine. Are you feeling tired after a big meal? You should because it will use more energy in life to digest food than anything else you do! Seriously! Cut the meat and live like the ‘long-gutted animals, the vegetarian animals’.

I know that is easier said than done, and despite our best intentions, change can be difficult. Just make small changes, gradually. Decide, for example, okay, I want to eat more salads and less meat. Don’t set yourself up for failure! Maybe add salad one more time a week and meat one less a week. Do it for a month or so until it’s part of your life. Then it is easy to add another good intention that becomes a habit.

P.S. Take vitamin B12 as a supplement if you rarely eat red meat and lack plenty of energy with adequate sleep! I will add a lot of tips on how to become a vegetarian. Note: I like to eat fish because it is so good for you and I eat some poultry when I crave a change from beans or tofu … many great recipes come to this site! PS I love my dad’s steak. I won’t say NO to that once or twice a year. He’s a bar-b-cuer master!

PPS – For any of you who went to Kaslo school and had the pleasure of Ms. Higashi, she was the one who said, “Have you ever seen a fat vegetarian?”
