Lately there have been some pretty spectacular innovations in hair products. I’ve never been too picky about my own hair because it’s incredibly flat and can’t hold a curl for more than a minute. However, these new products give me hope that maybe, just maybe, there is a place for me among the people with beautiful hair.
Temporary hair dye
Have you ever wanted to dye your hair an outrageous color just for the fun of it? I also. Many of us, however, cannot commit to the trend, imagining a moment when we wake up from fantasy and say “What was I thinking?” Rita Hazan has designed a product that is sprayed with highly pigmented colors in blue, purple or pink for people like me who are always dye shy. The great part about this product is that it washes off easily with water and stays on all day with a little hairspray. Rita’s Pop Color Temporary Color Spray works just as well on brunettes as it does on lighter hair, meaning anyone can play with color.
In addition to Pop Color, Rita Hazan also makes temporary color spray concealers that provide coverage for everything from spiky gray to dark overgrown roots. Sprays come in a variety of different colors to match your particular shade.
Hair fragrance
When I say hair fragrance, I don’t mean scented hairspray. I mean the designer perfume scents that we know and love that they are formulated for hair. These mists not only smell amazing, but they also soften the strands and create healthier looking hair. You can use this in conjunction with your scent perfume or replace it all together, which is what I hope to do. So far, designer hair fragrances include: Acqua di Gioia by Giorgio Armani, Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf and Parfum D’Extase by Marchesa.
Hair Primer
Just as using a face primer has so many benefits, your hair can also reap huge benefits from it. Hair Primer is the perfect base to use under all your other hair products, allowing them to work more effectively and last longer throughout the day. The use of hair primer softens the hair follicles and protects the strands, as well as the scalp, from harmful UV rays. An excellent base to try is Bumble and Bumble Prep, which also works as an excellent detangler.
Hair oils
While the idea of styling your hair with oils sounds a bit counterintuitive, you will be surprised how well your hair responds in small doses. The oils work both as a hair treatment and as a styling product with the ability to repair, hydrate, condition and offer color protection. Hair oils can also protect your hair and scalp from UV rays. The most popular oils to look for are made from argan and marula and are generally combined with other oils such as almond, grapeseed, and kukui nut.
