We all know that article marketing is a great way to drive highly qualified, highly targeted traffic to your website. What a lot of people don’t know is how to create a headline that almost compels the reader to click on it and read the entire article. Face it, if your articles are not being read then you are driving very little traffic to your website.

The most important reason why an article does not generate profit can be summed up in two words… The Headline. A weak title will make your article not read.

A big headline will stand up and yell “Look at me.”

Here are 6 tips for a killer headline

1.) Do a Google search for “Power Words and Phrases.” Visit the top 10 results, then cut and paste the listed words or phrases into a text file for easy access later. Then use them when creating headers.

2.) Make sure your keywords are appropriate for the article the title is linked to and try to use them in the first 4-6 words of the title.

3.) Generate curiosity with words like “unlock”, “discover”, etc.

4.) Ask a question like “You know?”, “What if?” or “Did you ever want to know?” This will instill in the reader the desire to know more.

5.) Top lists also work great. Use something like “Top 10 Reasons”, “Top 7 Tips”, etc.

6.) Make your headline informative. “12 Reasons to” and “3 Ways to” are good examples.

Everyone has heard the saying “You only get one chance to make a good first impression.” That saying is very true in the world of article marketing as well. Your headline is your first impression with a reader and it must pique their interest or they will move on.

Use these tips to create punchy headlines that compel your reader to read the entire article.
