There could be many reasons why you would like to consider an alternative to eBay. You may have been banned or your account suspended. This usually amounts to the same unhappy ending because it will make it extremely difficult for you to reinstate your account and even if you do manage to remove a hold, you will be required to provide more bank details and personal information and will probably face limitations. in its ability to sell in the future.

Personally, I don’t think it’s worth trying to reset your account. Because they ask you to resolve issues over the phone with people who have since sold the items, they won’t remember you, won’t appreciate being contacted, and won’t be able to say you paid because you never bought the item (since you sold)! Considering how much eBay tells you not to contact anyone privately, I’m surprised they would then expect you to phone off-site sellers.

My opinion is that once your account has been suspended, find another way to sell your items. Even if you were suspended for non-payment of fees and you pay the fees, you still need to provide a lot more detail and you will face limitations, so consider trying an alternative. It is a free market, so no one site should have a monopoly on trade.

Decide what you want to sell and why. I say this because if you were primarily decluttering your house, then making money may not be your main goal, so you could give away your items to charities or friends: or throw them away! Work done. Move on. We spend so much energy caring for useless items that we no longer have any use or even affection! Throw it away and live another day!

If you’re selling new items, there are many options open to you and you can combine them to good effect. Here are some ideas.

Joint venture with a local store to sell your items from their shelf space – they pay you nothing, but take a commission on the sale price. Set up your own stall in the market. If your town has a Thursday market day, find four other towns with different market days to make this a full-time business. Myself, I have never liked standing out in all weathers and drinking coffee from a thermos!

If you don’t like the look of an all-weather market stall, consider an indoor market or flea stall. You’ll stay warm, drink coffee from a vending machine, and suffer a few passersby. Not my ideal livelihood! Of course you could pay someone else to stay there all day. Or go one step further and rent store space. Not for me!

How about classified ads or Craigslist? Both are online options – there are many free classified ads websites. I don’t know if anyone ever sells any of theirs? Your local newspaper will give you the best option: they will also have a website to display your ad. To be fair, I’ve bought and sold a lot of items over the years through local newspapers, but it’s not a great option for a steady income stream. Some items, such as furniture and bicycles, will sell well.

What about your local auction house? Not all auctions are for antiques! Many have to do with liquidated stock turning around, property loss, or general disorder. I have sold many items at these local auctions that I was unable to sell online or through the newspaper. The tender is so much fun and makes for a night out! You could even make a living from a combination of these auctions and classified ads.

Here in the UK, during the short summer, we run boot sales outside in the fields. Also garage sales, garage sales and street sales. You can sell old items, but you’ll probably make more money buying here to sell elsewhere. Although it takes a long time! Many people in this city love boot sales and would never consider online auctions! It all depends on taste and habit.

The next thing to try is developing your own website or partnering with someone who already has a successful site selling their range of items. There are some quality comics websites where you can arrange to sell your comics or sell your comics! If you sell books, there are more options: Abebooks is a site where books are sold by individual sellers. This is a great market!

You can open a seller account with Amazon – you can sell more than just books, you can also sell new or old items. It is very possible to earn a good income selling here with 24/7 access and no standing around! This is the most viable way forward for store owners and ‘mail order from home’ business operations. You can also become an affiliate and earn a commission on the sale of each item you refer plus other items purchased by the same buyer! Join for free, a must check out Amazon affiliate program!

I highly recommend getting out of the 3D item market entirely and selling downloads. Software, stationery, ringtones, eBooks and PDF reports, video training and mp3 audio give you a hassle-free sales opportunity! You don’t need your own products, just sign up as an affiliate and promote other people’s! ClickBank, Commission Junction, and Associate Programs offer countless options in a wide range of niche markets.

The latest exciting opportunity online is promoting CPA offers from companies like Max Bounty or Never Blue. It drives traffic to a landing page where the visitor fills in the details of a business, such as a mobile phone provider or health supplement company. You get paid for every lead, often ten dollars or more! You don’t even have a product to sell, you’re just generating leads! This is such a powerful opportunity, it’s worth investigating for yourself. Awesome!

This brings me to my final tip, which is alternative auctions to the big brother! I checked many auctions online and joined a few; Basically, they all use the same template setup, without the raw professionalism of eBay. However, you may want to investigate them for yourself. Search engines will take you to these: bid-2-go, qextra, lggauctions, totalbids, ukbidsaway, 121bid, auction1, zolanta, winnit, flogitall.

That leaves two main contenders for the crown! CQout has over a million listings. Check it out. Good place to buy. And the best of the alternative auctions is ebid.net, so if you want to get serious about selling elsewhere I recommend considering Amazon first and then ebid.net, which is very professional and even offers more payment options than they will like it And the rates are much cheaper – 3%!

Again, think carefully about what part of your life it really is to sell physical items – I’ve only sold my collections and general household clutter, so for me a viable alternative is to throw it away and move on. You will definitely live an easier life and make a lot more money selling downloads and being an affiliate, there are no two ways about it. But if you want to make some extra money and miss out on auctions, then you might do classified ads, boot shows, joint ventures with shop owners, and set up your own website, or you might be much happier in the long run doing repairs, crafting, or teaching locally.

It’s horrible to find out that your auction account has been suspended or you’ve been banned, but don’t ever think it’s the end of the world! It is a door that closes for another to open for you. Get up, dust yourself off, and keep going, stronger, wiser, and freer too!
