Do you have a blog that is going nowhere? Do you find yourself spending less and less time blogging because you’re bummed out by the results you’ve had so far? Maybe you want to start a blog and see if you too can do it for money. This article will give you some tips so you can start fresh or get started. But you also have to do something. You have to put these things into practice. You have to act on these things before they do you any good. Focus and complete these 7 tips before wandering off to some other project.

Tip #1: Turn off the TV and turn down the volume on the radio so you can hear yourself think. Now, think about your skills, talents, interests. What is your passion? Have you always wanted to do something but for one reason or another you never did? Where do you spend most of your time or where would you like to spend most of your time?

This tip is for you to target your blog (or start your blog) with a specific interest in mind. We call this interest a “niche” on the Internet. All successful blogs and websites target a specific niche, such as a doctor who specializes in a specific area. The more specific your niche is, the higher the search ranking you will have on all search engines. This is the best way to get organic traffic: organic means you don’t have to pay for traffic to your website with search engines.

Tip #2: If your blog doesn’t have a particular interest or you haven’t thought of any particular passion or interest yet, that tells me you may not be cut out for blogging for money. Successful bloggers who are blogging for money spend all of their time and resources focused on their particular interest (aka niche). So if you really want to learn how to blog for money, go back to Tip #1 until you figure out what you want to do or where your talents lie. Tip #1 is the most important Tip on which all other Tips are based.

Tip #3: Congratulations! You have jumped the first hurdle. Now that you know what niche you’re going to focus on, start researching. Doing that is quite easy, but it takes time and you need to take good notes. Google any keyword related to your niche. For example; if your niche is ‘Dog Training’, write it down and see what top websites come up. Look inside these websites and see what keywords they used to rank high on Google. To do that you can right click, open the source document and in the top 10 lines you will see the word “keywords”. After that, you will see the keywords that they have set to target your website.

“Dog training” is a very difficult keyword to rank for because it is very competitive, so you need to “drill down” and find less competitive keywords. To do this, use the free Google AdWords tool (you can Google it). After putting in your keyword to search for, look for the ‘dropdown’ where you can activate the CPC (cost per click). Look for keywords that have low CPC and little competition. Write down all of those keywords, but only those that are specifically related to your particular niche. Now search for those keywords on Google and see what competition you have on the first 2 pages. Choose the best 5 keyword phrases (more than one word).

You should know that keyword research is like cleaning house… it never gets done. You are always revising and expanding your keywords. This is just a beginning.

Tip #4: Write 30 articles on each of the 5 keyword phrases. Did I lose you there? I didn’t mean to scare you, but to let you know what your goal is. There are 2 ways to approach this Tip. You can hire someone to write these articles or you can write them yourself. When you hire someone to write your articles (try Elance.com), you may still have to rewrite parts of these articles. The reason is that many of the writers who offer this service are from non-English speaking countries. Make sure you find someone who speaks English and writes well in English. When you’ve reached your goal of 30 articles per keyword phrase, don’t think you’re done… you need to keep writing articles. The more articles you write with embedded keywords, the higher your Google ranking will be.

Tip #5: Make a daily “to do” list that will keep you organized and see that you’re making progress. Congratulate yourself every time you check off a daily task or complete a time-consuming job. You need to be your own cheerleader. Don’t expect others to motivate you or give you pep talks. Also, it is very important to always look at the “positive” things you have achieved and strive to move forward with new ideas or techniques. Don’t let negative thoughts take over your mind. Stay focused on blogging for money by keeping all of these steps in mind.

Tip #6: Buy software tools that automate your work and help you complete tasks faster and easier. There are so many out there that promise the world, so be careful. I have found a tool that is the best keyword research tool on the internet. It does a lot more than keyword research – too many to list in this article, so you should check out the video on the website for yourself. I’m a member so I know what I’m talking about. You can find the link below.

Tip #7: Do “something” every day. Action is the most important advice because if you do nothing… you know the result. Simply visualizing or thinking or dreaming about it will not make it happen. Be sure to apply Tip #5 along with this Tip because you need each other.

Don’t blame yourself for completing only one or two things a day. It’s the actions you take that are important. Remember that you are still making progress towards your goal, so praise yourself for all your efforts. When you beat yourself up, you’ll get discouraged and the next thought you’ll have is “give up.” Commit to doing at least one thing a day to reach your goal.

It is important to keep working towards your goal. Learning from others is also a step in the right direction.

I wish you the best! Happy blogging!
