Let me start by saying that there are many things I love about Twitter. I love the instant connectivity, how it brings me news right away, as the news happens. I love how I can find and read a lot of different articles that I probably would have missed if I hadn’t been on Twitter.

Having said that, there are some things on both Twitter and Twitter that I find annoying. These are not deterrents for me in any way, these things are just annoying more than anything else.

Are here:

  • Marketing bots. These are people who are constantly sending affiliate links to whatever they are affiliated with. The big rage right now seems to be some kind of tooth whitening paste. It used to be getting 16,000 followers in 90 days, then something about making $125 a day guaranteed, and something else equally annoying. I’m not saying you can’t sell things on Twitter, I’m saying don’t make commercial messaging your sole purpose for being on Twitter. If you buy anything from one of these marketing bots, STOP IT. You’re just encouraging the next bot to try harder. Of course I have the option to unfollow, which I usually do, but it’s still annoying.
  • Porn robots. What can I say about porn bots? Well, for one thing, they’re annoying. I really don’t need someone’s inappropriate, not safe for work image filling up my screen and telling me to go check out their naughty pics somewhere.
  • Quote bots. I love inspirational quotes as much as anyone, but do you really have nothing more to say? Are you so uninteresting? I’m digressing
  • The new next/next interface. I thought about giving it a while to see if I could get used to it or see if maybe I could grow to love it, but no. I don’t like the new interface and I don’t think I’ll change my mind until the next version of the interface is released.
  • Facebook games Those annoying games like the Mafia game, the Spymaster game, all that crap that makes the Facebook experience suck more and more each day has made its way to Twitter. I hate those games on FB and I hate them more on Twitter.
  • By clicking multiple links. I tweeted about this the other day. I hate having to click a link, that makes me click a link to click another link to read the full article. Just link to the dang article! Stop trying to play with Digg!

There are a few more things, but I’m already a while on this.
