A good family catch with entertainment, comedy, few tears, cricket not well shown and the evergreen Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.

The movie starts with a very serious Akshay kumar, long after Tees Maar khan, I think he needed to be a bit quiet, he needs to re-establish himself as Tees maar kumar and I think he showed that in Patiala’s house.

A different character with no cricket skills but hey even Sharukh khan never played much hockey.

Akshay was charming, calm and allowed other actors to dominate him and in the end they all turned out to be winners.

Rishi Kapoor was the main character, the angry young Punjabi who became the FATHER OF SOUTHALL to Punjabis living in the UK.

Dimple Kapadia was silent throughout the movie until he finally spoke like old times “I’m his mother this time and not your wife” and actually “I’m his mother in law too” so let me see him get the cup for England.

The character that I liked the most was Anushka Sharma, she reminds me of a younger Kajol from Kuch kuch hota Hai, always happy, cheerful and even sexy. She plays a girl next door and walks into Akshay’s life filled with positive therapy to change him from a loser to a man she can fall in love with. Well, she did a good job.

The story was simple, it had some cut and past of the 93 world cups and the focus fight of Andrew Simmons and Akshay Kumar – I wonder how Andrew would feel about seeing this movie. Though he would personally rate the movie 3.5 out of 5 as it was easy going and enjoyable.

You know nowadays Hindi movies need some easy movies so people just say “It was nice” and walk out of theaters just smiling. I’m sure every Punjabi felt the same way in the UK. Nikhil Advani does a good job directing him.

Health.
