You have been waiting for the time of your family vacation to arrive here and you know that your plan will make it a very special moment. You have many options, but you will not regret choosing the impressive Grand Canyon. The least expensive way to get there is by taking one of the South Rim bus tours from Las Vegas.

There is always the option of going to the canyon by helicopter or plane and you may even decide that you want to take a rental car and drive yourself (this means that it is not recommended). Each of these methods has its good points, but taking a bus tour is the cheapest option. Bus tours also include a professional driver/guide, free hotel pickup and drop-off, all park fees, and a box lunch. You’ll also be able to take great photos at the Hoover Dam on the tour when they stop.

You should plan on fifteen hours at least when you go on your South Rim bus trip because it will take all day. This may seem like a long time, but you should keep in mind that it will take you about five and a half hours to get there and then another five and a half hours to get back to Las Vegas. You’ll see many things on your round trip, including Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, the Mojave Desert, and historic Route 66. You’re sure to enjoy the ride more as you’ll be sitting in comfortable seats on a climate-controlled bus.

Many people who take South Rim bus tours upgrade their tour package to include a helicopter ride from the South Rim to the North Rim and back. During this 30-minute flight, you’ll see the Colorado River, Dragoon Corridor, Grand Canyon Village, and Phantom Ranch. People who have added helicopter flights to their Grand Canyon tour have said that this really made their trip that much better.

Some companies have started offering Grand Canyon luxury bus tours to their customers. Luxury tours use custom vans or luxury coaches and carry only around 12 people instead of the 40 that fit in the larger buses. You will have to pay more for these trips but the experience will be more personal than the ones you will have on the other bus trips. A common term to hear from someone doing luxury tours is tour steward, which refers to the guide or driver. Passengers can decide which places they want to visit on their trip.

South Rim bus tours typically give passengers about three hours to explore the National Park. This amount of time is usually very adequate. The route the bus takes will take you past some famous spots like Yavapai Point and Mather Point so you can see them from the comfort of the bus. Most tours also include a stop at Grand Canyon Village.

This is a historic area that has several restaurants (I recommend the restaurant at Bright Angel Lodge), gift shops, and museums.

You can also make use of the park’s transportation system. Your bus tour may not have included certain areas of the park, so you can take the free buses that arrive every fifteen minutes. It is recommended that you obtain the Guide created by the park service which is available for download. Includes a handy map and timetable for the shuttle bus system. When you visit the parks official site, you can download it.

These coach tours are a great deal and will give you everything you need to have a great time in Grand Canyon National Park. While you should plan the entire day to dedicate to the tour, the evening will be yours as you’ll be back on the Strip around 9pm. A trip to Las Vegas is not complete without taking one of these tours. When you make your next trip to Las Vegas, be sure to include a bus tour of the South Rim on your list of things you simply must do.
