The history of Call of Duty is a sprawling topic to say the least. This game has been on the market for more than seven years. With seven different editions in the game collection, new players might find it a bit difficult to get into the game. While the game is always fun, it’s a bit more difficult to follow the story line. Let’s take a look at some of the expansions in Call of Duty.

The first Call of Duty was released in October 2003. Originally, it was only released on the PC gaming platform. Players had the opportunity to become soldiers in an epic battle of good against evil. Based on Quake III Arena Engine, this game was also a first person shooter. A second edition of the Call of Duty series was released in October 2005. Due to the increasing popularity in advisory games and enhanced platforms, Call of Duty 2 was also released for Xbox in November 2005. It is also interesting to note that a version of Call of Duty 2 was released for cell phones and smartphones. The third Call of Duty was released a year later, in November 2006. A significant fan base grew from the first 3 editions.

The time between game releases began to follow a year-long wait. In November 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern War Fair was released. This was the first edition to receive a mature audience rating and marks the improvement in graphics and violence in the Call of Duty series. Now, with so many competing advisory platforms, Call of Duty: World at War was released on 4 different platforms in November 2008. For the next installment in the series, Activision decided to pick up after Call of Duty 4: Modern War Fair and thus the games. The new edition would be called Call of Duty: Modern War Fair 2. This edition was released in November 2009. It now excludes Nintendo Wii as a platform for the Call of duty series. There are already three more editions in process.
