Like everything else, there is always a high-end version. There are fast cars like Porsche and Ferraris and a 30x jeweler’s loupe is like the Porsche version of a jeweler’s loupe. It will allow you to obtain the highest magnification without the use of a microscope.

If you’ve read my other articles on the 10x and 20x versions, then you know what 30x means. If you don’t know what that means, 30x simply means that you will magnify things thirty times more than the naked eye. 30x equals 30 times! These have a very short focal range and may take some practice to get things into focus.

A 30x magnifying glass is most often used to inspect gemstones and gems. By looking very closely, you can determine the real from the fake. However, this will take some practice and you should know what you are looking for. For example, determining the quality and clarity of a diamond is much easier with a high-powered jeweler’s loupe like the 30x.

We all know that diamonds come from carbon, and if you look very closely at a diamond with a high-powered magnifying glass, you will see tiny pieces of carbon. They appear as dark spots within the stone itself. The more carbon deposits there are, the less valuable the stone will be. The less carbon deposits there are, the clearer and more valuable the diamond becomes. You will also easily notice any other imperfections like cracks or blemishes. A 30x magnifying glass is a high-powered magnifying tool that is primarily used by jewelers or anyone who handles jewelry and needs to know the quality of each piece.
